Homecoming!!

So, I'm sittin' here trying my best to finish up my large mini M&M Blast from Sonic and it's just not going down. Tomorrow is my son's first school dance and I am about to pee myself with excitement. Was that TMI? Sorry. But really, though!! His first Homecoming. Eeeee!!

Is it that he's going on his first "date" that has my stomach in a bunch? He certainly isn't too excited about putting on a shirt and tie (this is the Mohawk/Fauxhawk kid) and giving a girl a wrist coursage in front of her parents. They are going to dinner first with several other couples. I've explained how to tip the waitstaff and the importance of opening doors (including the car door), but I can tell he's all "eh, do I have to?" So, I threw in how his date will be the envy of all the other girls when they see what a gentleman he is.

He thinks I'm an idiot. :)

It has to be tough, being a teenage boy. You want to impress the ladies and look cool doing it. It's only when he reaches manhood that he will realize just how cool it looks when you impress us.

Looks like a lady is teaching her son how to treat a woman. I'm sure that not only will he appreciate you when he's older, but his wife will thank you as well.

Alright! I'm so excited for him (and you)! I'm sure this is a big big night for him (and you)! I didn't go to my homecoming because I couldn't get a date... I was such a loser... I mean, I was too cool to go. Anyway, this is the time for a young (gentle)man to learn about the dating rituals. Although girls say they can do things themselves, they don't really mean it. So, yes, the door opening always scores bonus points :)

P.S. Be sure to get the photo of them on the stairscase... Such a classic.

Hi Shawn, Young guys who are learning how to become gentlemen are soooooo cute! I have two boys (17 & 20). They have gone through this rite of passage too. At the 17 year old's homecoming they decided to wear their suits and gowns to a hot dog restaurant for dinner. I don't get it, but what do I know....I'm a fossil.
